Date: 27th-28th March 2019

Theme: Moving from Strategic Plan to Actions!
Subtheme: Implementing Innovations in Perinatal Service Delivery in Nigeria.
Continuing Medical Education (CME) Points to be awarded: 10 Points.

This Conference will host 400 Medical Professionals including Medical Doctors, Midwives. Nurses, Multidisciplinary Clinical Workforce, Researchers, Public Health Practitioners, Policy Makers, Regulatory Bodies, Pharmaceutical Organizations, Developmental Partners, Women’s Organisations, HMO’s, Financial Institutions, and Civil Society Groups in Nigeria and in diaspora.

According to Bill Gates, the Chairman of Bill and Melinda Foundation, who has so far spent $1.6 billion on health and education in Nigeria, Nigeria is one of the most dangerous places in the world to give birth. This is appalling and needs urgent attention. The major reason why we have such poor results despite a National integrated maternal and new-born plan is the lack of collaboration amongst the stakeholders involved in developing, delivering and monitoring perinatal care in Nigeria.
To have an impactful deliberation there will be discussions on how by collaborative working, perinatal care planners and providers can successfully implement and manage the Winning Strategies that were highlighted in the global research carried out by the Lancet Survival Strategies for maternal and neonatal health system development (2014). The emphasis for action would be developing a significantly higher coverage of the low cost and low technology tactical plans within the public and private sector, at primary and secondary levels in Nigeria. Action plans on the development of an Emergency Response System addressing maternal and neonatal service in Nigeria will also be highlighted.
